Presentation and history
The company was founded in 1976 when Marko Drašler’s workshop for processing and marketing high-alloy and corrosion resistant steel was founded. From the very beginning the company gained the trust of its clients and was for example invited to work with the pharmaceutical company Lek on a number of projects for developing and manufacturing mechanical equipment.
During the 1980s the company took on various projects for manufacturing and processing mechanical equipment for the markets of former Yugoslavia. During that time the company manufactured a cargo aerial tramway which contributed to the success of the Himalayan expedition to Mt. Everest and thus carried the flag of Slovenia and the company to the top of the world.
In 1985, the company received the Boris Kidrič Fund Award for developing a highly complex laboratory and semi-industrial pilot bioreactor with complete measuring and regulation equipment.
In the 1990s, the company updated its manufacturing equipment and started taking on more complex projects, e.g. manufacturing and installing equipment at the Color paint and varnish factory, and installing stainless steel products in the Krka pharmaceutical factory in Novo mesto. In the 1990s, the company obtained international attestation for the execution of welding work. In 1998 it was one of the first companies in Slovenia to have also obtained the ISO 9001 certificate.
Today, MDM is a company with up-to-date organisation, which in addition to its production and services is also responsible for the wholesale and retail sale of semi-finished stainless steel and aluminium products. The company is also known as a reliable business partner outside Slovenia.
The MDM headquarters are in Ljubljana, which is also where its distribution centre is located.
